Season
2007.
The Season 2007 is behind us and Sunfest
beckons (May 2 - May 5). This annual waterfront festival,
held along scenic Flagler Drive, celebrates its 25th year of
rejoicing the universal SUN and features the Village People,
Ludacris, The All American Rejects and a whole lot more. In
fact there is never a lack of events to attend through-out
the year, making this mecca a living choice for the young
professional -- and young at heart.
One thing is constant in Palm Beach --- the ever changing
dynamic of the real estate market. In the last issue we
referenced the increased trend of stabilization with many
more realistic expectations from both buyers and sellers.
Promising an "investment in peace of mind", over 250
residences on this treasured island closed since our
last issue - representing an increased diversification of
new owners.
For
instance, take my buyers Stanoy and Anna, a young New York
couple in their mid thirties with two small children.
Originally from Bulgaria (yes they met and fell in love in
the Big Apple), they sought and found a seaside that evoked
Anna's childhood memories of her family's get-away on the
Black Sea in the town of Nessebar, Eastern Bulgaria. Says
Stanoy of their Palm Beach ocean front purchase:"It was
a truly special moment to be absorbed by the beautiful ocean
scenery right from the front door. We are definitely here
for the long run, Palm Beach is a very special place and
we're glad we found it." Pictured

Hidden Art Treasures
The
Work, Its Artist, and Its Home

Pictured above, Red Flower
1919 by Georgia O'Keeffe, a work owned by
the Norton Museum, highlighted the private tour by no other
than "myself" with those of you who responded to the
invitation to attend my Third Annual Gratitude Luncheon.
The special exhibit entitled
: "Georgia O'Keefe: Circling Around
Abstraction" included works from 1915
through the 1970's and offers the viewer an exciting cross
section of O'Keeffe's most creative periods.
THE WORK
An oil on canvass, Red
Flower is one of O'Keeffe's first
experiments with abstracting flowers. Despite its early
date, it demonstrates many of the traits that became
hallmarks of her later floral works: suppression of
detail, magnification of scale and intensification of
color.
THE ARTIST
Georgia O'Keeffe was one of the most independent
creative artists of the 20th Century. Her
earliest work demonstrated a passion for form & color in
abstract compositions and by 1930 she began painting
boldly enlarged and closely cropped images of single
objects, particularly flowers, which parallel stylistic
developments on contemporary photography. By the time
of her death in 1986, she had become a symbol of the
independent American artist internationally recognized
as an early and influential leader of American
modernism.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The Norton Museum resides in the charming neighborhood
of Mango Promenade - a historic West Palm Beach
community with beautiful 1920's Mediterranean - Revival,
Frame Vernacular, and Florida Bungalow architecture -
along with high rise condominiums over looking the Intra
-coastal, the Island of Palm Beach and the Atlantic
Ocean. One can partake in ownership from as low as
$300,000's for a 2/2 condo to an Intracoastal
waterfront "mansionette" at $3 mil plus. Either way, you
will be minutes to the premiere Museum, neighborhood
restaurants, antique shops, the college and of course
"City Place". Rentals available also starting at
approximately $1500/mo.
